Recording of Consultations and Meetings – Privacy Information

At Bewicke Medical Centre, we may record some consultations or meetings to help us provide safe and effective care. Please note consent will be requested prior from the patient if any consultations were to be recorded.

Why we record

Recordings may be used to:

  • Help create accurate clinical notes
  • Support patient safety and continuity of care
  • Reduce administrative workload for staff
  • Support training or quality improvement

Some recordings may be transcribed or summarised using approved AI tools. These tools only support staff – all decisions about care are made by qualified clinicians.

When recording happens

  • You will always be told in advance if a consultation or meeting is being recorded
  • We do not make secret or covert recordings

Your choice

  • If you do not want your consultation recorded, please tell us
  • This will not affect your care, and alternatives will be offered where possible

How your information is protected

  • Recordings are stored securely
  • Access is limited to authorised staff only
  • Recordings are kept only as long as necessary
  • Data is not used for marketing or commercial purposes

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Be informed about recordings
  • Access your personal data
  • Raise concerns about how your data is used
